Health Information Team
The Health Information Team (HIT) is part of QAIHC’s Policy, Advocacy, Leadership and Strategy division. The team is here to support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community controlled health services across Queensland to use data more effectively.
We achieve this by providing QAIHC Members with support that promotes the use of data for continuous quality improvement, as well as for business management, revenue optimisation, service planning and monitoring.
This support includes:
Training on health information systems
The team offer whole-of-sector or customised training that will ensures Members are using their health information systems to their full potential. Common training offerings are:
- Annual data systems and reporting workshops: Clinical Audit Tool (CAT4), Topbar and Electronic Medical Records
- Regular information webinars on topics being raised by services
- Help desk support via email and telephone calls in business hours
- In-clinic and customised training as requested.
Performance reporting
The HIT can visualise clinical data to make it easier for Member services to identify and monitor continuous quality improvement opportunities and initiatives, as well as monitoring overall service delivery. Performance reports can include:
- Progress against nKPIs
- Monthly activity reports
- MBS billing
- Ad hoc customised data reports and requests.
Providing data to inform service planning
QAIHC has access to data which can tell the stories of Member communities. This data can support Members to build an evidence base that highlights community need. The Health Information Team are happy to collaborate with Members seeking to analyse data to shine light on community issues. The team is also experienced in working with Members to identify and source that data.
Data governance
QAIHC has a responsibility to its Members to implement procedures that address all aspects of data protection and good practice in the management of health and health-related information about Queensland’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. The HIT are experienced and knowledgeable about Data Service Deeds and Data Governance Protocols to support this process.
The team have developed Data Privacy posters for Members to include in clinic consult rooms and waiting rooms to inform the community around data, privacy, confidentiality and informed consent.
