Communications Manager
Job opportunity: Communications Manager
Location: South Brisbane, Brisbane QLD
Status: Full time

QAIHC overview: QAIHC is the peak body for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community controlled health organisations (ACCHOs) in Queensland, supporting Members through leadership, advocacy and sector development. QAIHC works to strengthen the ACCHO sector and support improved health outcomes. Its work is grounded in culture, self-determination and health equity.
Position overview: QAIHC is seeking a Communications Manager to lead its strategic communications function and support clear, culturally safe communication across the sector.
This role will guide messaging, media, campaigns, publications and stakeholder engagement that reflect QAIHC’s vision, priorities and values.
You will lead the Communications team and help share advocacy, policy, program and health promotion messages with Members, communities, stakeholders and the broader public.
Responsibilities:
🔸 Lead strategic communications planning, messaging and campaign delivery
🔸 Embed culture, cultural protocols and respectful storytelling in communications
🔸 Manage and develop the Communications team across all channels
🔸 Lead production of Sector Leader magazine and other key publications
Essential criteria:
🔸 Qualifications in communications, journalism, public relations, marketing or related experience
🔸 Strong understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures, communities and community control
🔸 Experience leading communications, media relations and stakeholder engagement
🔸 Current unrestricted C Class Driver Licence, with required checks if requested

Public Health Registrar
Job opportunity: Public Health Registrar
Location: South Brisbane, Brisbane QLD

QAIHC overview: QAIHC is the peak body for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community controlled health organisations in Queensland, supporting Members through leadership, advocacy and sector development. QAIHC works with Members to strengthen community controlled primary health care.
Position overview: This public health training position supports the planning, implementation and evaluation of QAIHC public health policy interventions.
You will provide public health and medical advice, analyse government policy and reform initiatives, and promote evidence-based service delivery across Member services.
The role also builds links with health services, universities, NGOs and government departments while supporting and mentoring public health, health promotion and clinical staff.
Responsibilities:
🔸 Analyse national and state policy and reform initiatives
🔸 Provide public health and medical advice to Members and QAIHC programs
🔸 Support best-practice service models and clinical standards
🔸 Build partnerships and provide mentoring across the sector.
Essential criteria:
🔸 MBBS with relevant professional clinical or Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander community controlled health service experience
🔸 Master’s degree in public health medicine
🔸 Acceptance into the RACP Advanced Training Program
🔸 Current unrestricted driver’s licence and willingness to meet required screening checks.
