The Queensland Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Council (QAIHC) paid tribute today to people working in the Queensland Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Community Controlled Health Sector who have served our country.
“On the 25th of April we commemorate and honour all Australians who died during wars, conflicts and peace keeping operations,” QAIHC CEO Neil Willmett said today.
“We reflect upon and pay tribute to Australia's involvement in Gallipoli and remember the fallen. This year is particularly special as we commemorate the Centenary of Armistice that ended the First World War.
“ANZAC Day is a time for us to pay respect and give thanks to our Veterans and Ex Service Defence personnel – living and deceased. These men and women put their lives selflessly on the line to protect the freedoms and democracy that we experience in Australia today.
“The Queensland Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Community Controlled Health Sector has a number of people working in it that have personally served our country or have a family member who has served our country.
“QAIHC recognises this sacrifice and courage and extends our sincere gratitude to these men and women and also their loved ones who have also supported them,” he said.
