QAIHC is a peak body for Disability Services in Queensland. We support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community-controlled organisations that are delivering or planning to deliver culturally appropriate First Nations disability supports and services in Queensland. This includes:
QAIHC believes that all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples with a disability should have access to local, holistic, culturally safe, timely, affordable disability, health and wellbeing support services and as Queensland’s disability peak, will work to realise this.
QAIHC acknowledges the funding provided by Queensland Government, through Department of Families, Seniors, Disability Services and Child Safety. This funding enables us to work with other Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peak bodies, partners, and communities to improve the capacity and capability of providers to support First Nations NDIS participants and stimulate thin markets. Please keep an eye out for new content as we are currently working to develop resources for organisations supporting NDIS participants in Queensland.

What is the NDIS?
The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS), funded by the Australian Government, aims to support people with disabilities to enhance their overall wellbeing. Support services may include healthcare, therapy, personal support, and other aids to enable participants to live more independently and participate fully in society. Participants choose and pay for supports and services out of an individually allocated budget based on their goals.
If you are an ACCHO, First Nations small business, or sole trader who provides, or wishes to deliver, disability supports and services to First Nations Queenslanders, we would be delighted to engage with you.
